Hydroquinone Cream USP is a prescription-strength topical skin-lightening agent used to treat hyperpigmentation, including melasma, freckles, and age spots. It works by inhibiting melanin production, usually applied in a 4% concentration to affected areas. It is generally used for 3 months on, 3 months off, under dermatological guidance to avoid side effects like irritation or ochronosis .
